Redneck Mommy came to town this weekend! I met her at the airport on Saturday afternoon; it only took us fifty minutes to locate one another. If I hadn’t left my cell phone in the car we would have found each other a lot quicker, but when friends come in from other provinces I like to make myself accessible like that. Heh.
We only had to call Metro Mama three four times for directions before making it to her house.
I wore jeans and sneakers to a swanky downtown bar with a dress code that clearly stated NO SNEAKERS and didn’t get kicked out. Bonus!
Spent the evening drinking Corona and chatting with bloggers, some of whom I’ve met before and some that I hadn’t, while forcing myself not to dry hump every single one of ‘em. Totally fucking awesome.
Stayed over at Metro’s place and shacked up in her guest room with Redneck. (Yeah, I shared a bed with Redneck. What can I say? I’m like Sunday morning.)
Hung out in the T-dot with Redneck, Assertagirl, Motherbumper and Her Bad Mother on Sunday morning. Highlights included me consuming my first ever (!!!) caffeinated beverage from Starbucks and going to a wicked lunch buffet where I ate my weight in scalloped potatoes and mini cinnamon buns. I also proved that I have nary an ounce of shame by announcing to my companions that the (many) Corona’s I’d consumed the night before had left me a touch gassy and that I really needed to let a few go.
Snagged a pair of pink and black Converse for $40. My beloved pink and navy Vans completely fell apart on the weekend, giving me a nasty blister on my heel and a reason to shoe shop.
Confirmed that Motherbumper and I were separated at birth. Really. We have so much in common it’s freaky. *cue Twilight Zone music*
The kids’ reactions when I got home were the best: Oliver flew out the front door in his bare feet screaming when he saw me pull in; he wrapped his arms around my neck when I picked him up and didn’t let go for a good ten minutes. Julia attached herself to my leg and squeezed my thigh repeatedly, letting go only long enough for me to sit down on the couch and look at the new princess photo album Dave bought her while out thrifting the day before. I sat on the couch with both kids in my lap and smothered them in kisses….‘cause even though I had – and needed – a wicked, wicked weekend away, it was great to be home, where my hearts are.

I think we should try to make brunch in the city a semi-regular event. Whoever can come, comes, and whoever can’t, can’t. Think of it: Zelda’s once a month! On the patio! Ahhhh…

That sounds like an awesome time. I’m sorry I missed it.
Stupid virus.

Vans do tend to fall apart and disappoint.

It was so great to see you, badass Sneaker Girl! (And, btw, your FIRST EVER Starbucks??? Friend, come over to the dark side. I will caffeinate you. Hm. That sounded somewhat dirty. Wasn’t really going for that effect…) Niagara Falls is going to rock!

We’ll do it again, soon, soon, SOON, and there will be PILES of cinnamon buns. (Amy and I will lure you east of Toronto by kidnapping Katie and stacking piles of the world’s best cinnamon buns – available only in Bowmanville, Ontario – around her. You will not resist.)

So glad to see you here again! (There was a dress code? Missed that.) So stupid that I didn’t get to talk to you much, with so many there this time. And so cranky that I didn’t get to come out sunday, but really couldn’t. I think I missed a good time. Next time, though. Oh, and BFF! When we will have THREE! DAYS! Counting down already.
April 16th, 2008
I’ve been pretending that the weekend isn’t over and you are just on potty break. I know, sad. Anyhow – if HBM is tempting us with cinn buns who are we to resist? Do you know how much I loved meeting you for real this weekend? DO YOU? You should be scared – sis. Oh and the twilight zone music is my theme song ;)
April 16th, 2008
“Where my hearts are.”
And lucky little hearts they are.
April 16th, 2008
There was a dresscode? you rebel.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one thinking I wanted to molest everyone.
Awesome thrifting find.
April 16th, 2008
When I was living in Belgium, I loved stealing off to Antwerp to sleep at Di’s and hang with Peter. The good old days…
April 16th, 2008
