Earlier this week, I asked Tink to interview me, and she came up with five questions for me and posted them on her blog. Throughout the week I’ve been reading other blogger’s answers to the questions she asked them, and it’s been cool – I like stuff like this, because at one time, albeit briefly, I was a reporter. Here are her questions, and my answers.
Do you kiss with your eyes open or closed? Depends – is the TV on? Okay, for real, I kiss with my eyes closed. And I think it’s totally creepy when I’m kissing someone and I get that feeling like they’re watching me, so I open my eyes just a sliver and see that they are, in fact, boring holes through my skull. While tonguing me. It’s like, what are you looking at? (For the record, Dave closes his eyes when he kisses me, too. I think.)
What are some things you hope your children do differently than you did? I hope that they don’t lose their virginity too early and party their way through high school and half of college. (Shut up, a mother can dream…) I also hope they don’t swear as prolifically as I do.
What mythical animal do you wish were real? Warning: Cheeseball Alert! I’ve always had a thing for unicorns. There’s just something about a horse with a pointy horn sticking out of its head that’s so…magical.
Where did your screen name come from? It’s totally nothing special. Dave’s nickname for me is Tulip (although he seems to only call me Tulip when he's trying to stop me from entering a state of hysteria. He calls me ‘Babe’ more now, which is fine, but I kinda miss Tulip, nudge, nudge, are ya readin’ this, Dave?), and I’m a mama. Poof! Mamatulip.
Who is hotter, Catwoman or Batgirl? It would probably be good if I had a visual to base my answer on. Honestly, I don’t know what Catgirl – er, Catwoman or Batgirl looks like. Doesn’t one of them flounce around in a black vinyl suit? I pick her, ‘cause that’s hot.
Wanna play? Leave a comment telling me to interview you and I’ll ask you five questions that you can answer and post on your blog. Giddyup!
Moving right along. The day before Julia’s surgery, I got a package in the mail from Debbie. Now, I knew she was talented, but I didn’t quite realize how talented she is until I opened the package and saw the two shirts that were inside:

Next up is the Thinking Blogger Awards. I was honoured (and a bit surprised) when both Redneck Mommy and The New Girl bestowed me with a Thinking Blogger Award (thank you again, ladies), and I’ve been thinking about which bloggers I could award ever since. Truth is, every single blog that I read makes me think in some way, shape or form. Every single one. I’ve lost track of who’s gotten one of these and who hasn’t, but here are five bloggers who make me think:
There you have it. Now go forth and have a great weekend.

those shirts are awesome…and Oliver’s is soooo very fitting.
Feel free to interview me babe :)

Wow. I’m honoured that you would award me with that. Thank you.
(Now I’m faced with the decision, do I tease you for your wording above, or not? Decisions… decisions… OK.)
“And I think it’s totally creepy when I’m kissing someone and I get that feeling like they’re watching me, so I open my eyes just a sliver and see that they are, in fact, boring holes through my skull. While tonguing me.”
Someone? The verbiage clearly indicates this is a plural item… so, pray tell, MT, whom (besides Dave, master of the rump trumpet, of course) kisses you with tongue?

I have the same hopes for my children as you do for yours.
And Catwoman’s hotter.
March 23rd, 2007
Know what’s weird? I don’t often do memes, but I really like reading other people’s answers to them. Thanks. And congrats on the award! It is well deserved, and you are in good company. I was just getting to “know” you when you went on hiatus, and I’m glad you chose to come back. Thinking bloggers really butter my toast. :?)

I love the shirts! Awesome!
You can interview me. I’m pretty boring, though.

Random comment format:
You and Jess (fancypants) just love the unicorns. I’m more a Pegasus girl myself, but anything horse-like is great in my book. :-)
Great shirts. Debbie is waaay talented.
I would love to have you interview me, if you are so inclined.
Aaand, excellent choices of Thinking Bloggers.
March 23rd, 2007
Love the questions. OK oh I love the shirts Debbie is amazing. Questions welcome, but only if you try to embarrass me to death. Julia still doing ok?
March 23rd, 2007
You don’t know what Catwoman or Batgirl looks like? For real?
I was 9 when “Batman Returns” came out. I was enchanted. I thought Catwoman (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) was so cool. I wanted to BE her. I begged the cat to bite me. I even enticed her with peanut butter on my fingers. No such luck. No crazy transformation. No sexy cat suit. No 9 lives. Thank God I didn’t test THAT out.
Anyway. Here’s a picture:

Unicorns! –hee! ;) Love that!
And, those shirts are soooo nice! How sweet is she! :)
March 23rd, 2007
Those shirts are damn fine. I usually kiss with my eyes closed due to being unconscious.
March 23rd, 2007
You can interview me if I can wear my sunglasses and drink expensive fancy water while my personal assistant shops for me when I’m answering the questions!! No? Ok, I’ll just wear my sunglasses while I answer then. That’ll hafta do.
March 23rd, 2007
Deb is the best. I heart Deb.
And you, well, Thinking, Indeed. And thank you, friend. I’ll come over wearing vinyl and everything. THAT’ll give you something to think about.
March 23rd, 2007
you can certainly interview me, although my life has come to an abrupt halt, so I might answer every question with “what? Is there any more coffee??”
Love the shirts, so cute, and congratulations on the award!
March 23rd, 2007
Those shirts seriously rock!!
March 23rd, 2007
When I was a kid I had this massively spectacular unicorn poster in my room that I didn’t realize until I was a teen was a total 70s stoner poster. Unicorns have a bad rap and you are very brave to put that out there.
I’m up for an interview question or two :)
March 23rd, 2007
i’m always up for being interviewed :)
i wish i could make people shirts. they are awesome!
March 23rd, 2007
I’d say interview me, as one retired Canadian reporter to another, but I notice you have several offers already.
So, you get creeped out when someone is tonguing you and boring holes in your skull. This happen to you often, madame?
Sounds like there is a story there….
March 23rd, 2007
I’m with you on the unicorn thing. Waaaay cool.
Love the shirts! Chicky’s got a couple and they’re wonderful. Debbie does really nice work.
I’d feel like a total rock star if you would interview me. And it doesn’t have anything to do with me being hopelessly blocked and unable to find anything interesting to write about. :)
March 23rd, 2007
Have you seen the Saturday Night Live skit with the DiCicco Brothers Unicornery? It is hilarious!
March 23rd, 2007
yay! you *so* are a thinking blogger. you deserve eighty a them thangs.
(but I needed to alert you to the fact that wordgirl’s hyperlink doesn’t work right. it’s going somewhere else; I think to the next blogger’s house on the list.)
xoxo
March 23rd, 2007
Ha! I KNEW you were going to say UNICORN! As I was reading the question it popped in my head and knew the answer. I love that. :)
And hell yeah, Catwoman is HOT in her tight, skin fitting leather outfit. SMOKING HOT!
I have loved reading everyone’s interviews.
March 23rd, 2007
Debbie rules. :)
And nice choices for the Thinky Bloggy thing. I love this idea.
March 24th, 2007
You always make me think :]
I loved reading those answers!
And those shirts are adorable!
♥
March 24th, 2007
You ALWAYS make me think my friend. Well deserved.
And those answers … love em.
I’d love to play and be interviewed by a fancy, schmancy former journalist like your illustrious self :)
March 24th, 2007
Unicorns. Sigh. Me, too.
March 24th, 2007
Did you ever watch that movie “The Last Unicorn”? It still makes me cry. Don’t tell anybody though, huh?
March 25th, 2007
Hahahaha! Number one. Yes! What the hell ARE you looking at? Freak. Are you perhaps picturing how I will look after you kill me? Again. Freak.
:)
March 25th, 2007
The virginity and the drugs… so right there with you on that.
March 25th, 2007
I, too, would like to be a unicorn. Oh, it would be so dandy to poke people who get on my nerves, you know? So cool.
I’m told that chastity belts are available on eBay. My husband is looking into it for our daughter. I told him to chill because she’s only 2, but he says you can never be too careful…
March 25th, 2007
Hey Tulip–I’m honored! Thanks for the kind words and vote of confidence!
March 26th, 2007
If you’re not fed up, or curled up in the fetal position from asking questions -I can answer five from you too. :)
March 26th, 2007
Unicorns? Dear God, woman. And Debbie?! What a Woman! I LOVE those.
I’d love to be probed, uh, I mean interviewed by you MT. Just make sure the questions are entirely inappropriate.
March 26th, 2007
Sammy totally needs a wrecker tee shirt. I’m so jealous.
March 26th, 2007
Hey unicorns aren’t that bad…I’m up for an interview.
March 27th, 2007
Whee…this is fun..I’m playing with Mrs. Chicky too….
Hi, Nice to meet you…You don’t know it, but you were one of the first blogs I read that got me into blogging…Then I lost you because I was a naive and illiterate blogger and didn’t know I could blogroll you and keep you linked and I didn’t even know statcounter existed and then I forgot all about who you were and then, I found you again…sigh…That was long winded…But I just wanted to let you know that I’m happy I found you again. (And I didn’t want you to think I was weird…) Cause this comment is by all means normal…
March 27th, 2007
Thanks, Tulip. All this meta-bloggy thinking I’ve been doing of late has had the serious drawback of putting me so far behind on my reading that’s it’s embarassing. And yet I don’t ever seem able to let it ride. Noooo, I find myself reading back over the week on all my fav blogs. It’s kinda fun to do things that way–the blogger’s personality opens up like a tulip just that little bit more. I just got caught up over her and have a lump in my throat as I type about that Oliver post. How do they do it? Slip away from being our babes right before our very eyes?
I love those shirts and you have listed a couple of thinkers that I don’t know and will need to go investigate.
Should you ever want to question me, feel free. I would think it an honour.
March 28th, 2007
Hehe! I have to giggle.
I read your kissing comment and thought the same thing that my hubby (Sci-Fi Dad) thought….someone?! Who else do you kiss like *that* other than your hubby? Hmmm……
March 28th, 2007
Cool interview.
April 2nd, 2007
i would love an interview, please.
April 3rd, 2007
if you can come up with sufficient smart-assery questions … by all means…interview away LOL
April 5th, 2007
I’m jumping on the interview meme bandwagon … and wondered if you’d ask me some questions? I really enjoyed your answers (to good questions).
And I love blogs that make me think! (someday, I hope mine can do that for others… but I’ll need to do some more philosophizing there first).
